Twitter about Hawaii Join Us

Dear Best Hawaii Vacation Blog visitors,
Yes, Twitter mania has reached us too. Who wants to miss out on its benefits? After decent reserach I noticed it's a great way to receive daily updates on Hawaii and share the valuable ones with you, our blog visitors interested in their best Hawaii vacation deals. The start is made. Within a short time of two days we got 27 followers, mainly from Hawaii related businesses like Hawaiian Airlines, which promise daily tweets about air line specials.

Admittedly, I don't intend with my Twitter account to compete with Ashton Kutcher and his record of over a million followers. To be honest I really don't see any sense in joining Britney Spears or Ashton Kutcher on Twitter like other blog visitors who proudly report when they receive their follow notice from Britney Spears or Ashton Kutcher. Guys, get down to earth again. Being followed by Ashton Kutcher on Twitter is not like winning the lottery neither is to twitter like Ashton Kutcher. Ashton probably pays somebody to do the twitter business for him anyways. Oh well that's the big difference of us to the celebrities.

Bottom line of this 'Twitter about Hawaii Join Us' post is that I'd like to invite anybody who has great Hawaii vacation and travel info to share with Best Hawaii Vacation blog to join me on twitter. I myself will not go overboard with tweets but you will find my daily Hawaii tweet on my side bar under the 'Follow me on Twitter' invitation. So, let's twitter! Aloha, Pua Hawaii Vacation

Opel / Vauxhall Astra.

September 2009 sees the launch (all being well) of the latest incarnation of the Opel / Vauxhall Astra.
Taking design elements from the well received Insignia the new Astra aims to build upon the reputation forged by the current model. The modern yet functional design is pleasing on the eye but still distinctive in an age of bland cars.
The new Astra hatchback has grown some 15cms in length compared to the outgoing model whilst the estate, to be known as the Sports Tourer, is 20cms longer. All new Astras will benefit from a higher specification as standard along with a range of new (to the Astra) features including four wheel drive, adaptive damping, and electronic parking brake.
Motivation will be supplied by a range of new and current engines including a 1.4 petrol in both turbocharged and non-turbocharged form plus a wide selection of diesel engines including the ever popular 1700 turbo. The new 1.4 non-turbo engine will offer exceptionally low emissions and make use of a start-stop system.
A new sports variant is designed to compete directly against Volkswagen's popular relaunched Scirocco and will be known as the GTC is Europe and (more than likely) the VXR in the UK.
Prices have yet to be announced but there is not expected to be much variance from the current model.

British Formula 3.

The first 2 rounds of this year's British Formula 3 {link} series saw returnee Volkswagen win both races. After an absence of over 15 years Volkswagen engines were powering British F3 cars once again last weekend with unexpectedly impressive results.
Series front runners Carlin Motorsport switched from Mercedes power over the winter and were rewarded with victory in both races as Australian Daniel Ricciardo dominated both rounds. Volkswagen's other British team T Sport {link} has a slightly less successful debut with the Wolfsburg's company engines, struggling for outright pace with their best placed driver finishing in the bottom half of the top 10 on both occasions.

The History of Bruges in Belgium

Bruges (Brugge) was founded in the 9th century by Vikings who settled here at the end of the little river 'de Reie'. The name Bruges is probably derived from the old-Scandinavian word 'Brygga', which means 'harbor, or mooring place'. Because of the proximity of the North Sea, the settlement very quickly became an important international harbor. A sea-arm, called the Zwin, connected Bruges with the North Sea. The young settlement acquired city rights as early as the 12th century. At that time a first protective wall was built around Bruges. Soon, however, the Zwin started to silt up. This would have caused major problems for the city, were it not that Bruges adapted itself to this situation by creating outports in Damme and in Sluis. Moreover, transport of goods over land became more and more usual. In the 14th century Bruges became the starting point of a commercial transport road to the Rhineland (over Brussels and Leuven, cities in Brabant which also started to flourish because of this trade).

The Bruges bear in the Porters Lodge.Already in the 13th century Bruges was an important international trading center. Traders from all over the then known world came to the city to sell their products to each other and to buy Flemish cloth, a internationally acclaimed textile product, produced in different Flemish cities (e.g. Gent). In the early 14th century Bruges was the scene of political unrest between the citizens and the count of Flanders. Because of this unrest the French king tried to annex the county of Flanders, but the population managed to kick out the French garisson on May the 18th 1302. Later the Flemish army beat the French army in the 'Battle of the Golden Spurs' on July the 11th in the Flemish city of Kortrijk.

In the 14th century Bruges turned also into an international financial and trading center. It became the wharehouse of the North-European Hanza cities. Several countries had their own representation in Bruges: the Italians, the Germans, the Scottish, the Spanish made the city into a true European center where different languages could be heard and where the most exotic products could be found.

The decline of Bruges' wealth started in the 15th century : the unstoppable silting up of the Zwin, the competition with the bigger harbor of Antwerp and the crisis in the cloth industry resulted in less commercial activity. The crisis, however, was not immediately noticable. Bruges continued to construct splendid late-gothic buildings and churches, and the Flemish painting school (with e.g. the brothers Van Eyck and Hans Memling ) started to flourish as never before.

By the end of the 16th century the former glory was only a memory and Bruges slipped into a wintersleep that took several centuries. New textile industries were introduced in the 19th century, but to no avail. In the middle of the 1800's Brugge was the poorest city in Belgium. The 20th century, however, brought new life. The city was discovered by the international tourism and the medieval heritage turned out to be a new source of wealth for the 'Venice of the North'. Economically and industrially another important evolution took place. The new harbor of Zeebrugge (Seabruges-at 10 miles outside of the city, at the Belgian coast) brought new developments and new industries to the region.

Hawaii Vacation Rental Deals April

What's a better way to follow-up on our recent post 'What's Hawaii like in April?' than introducing April Hawaii vacation deals to our Best Hawaii Vacation blog visitors. Let's start with an email vacation promotion which we received last week from the Hawaii Prince hotels, which sounded initially extremely good: 2 for 1 Room Promotion for Hawaii Prince Hotels! However, when I had a closer look at this 'Hawaii Family Summer Promotion Deal', I noticed the highly inflated room rates from last year.

Mauna Kea Beach view from Mauna Kea Beach hotel. Entire Mauna Kea Beach is public beach. Beach access is available with free beach pass.
If I did not know better about the room rates of Hapuna Beach Prince hotel and Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, I might think 2 rooms for the price of 1 should attract many visitors. However, let's have a closer look at this Hawaii vacation deal from the Prince hotels: "Book the 1st room at published rates listed below and the 2nd room is FREE! Choose from select locations on Oahu, Maui and Big Island. Valid through 9/30/09."

Here are the published room rates:

Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki - rates start at $330
Maui Prince Hotel - rates start at $425
Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel - rates start at $415
Mauna Kea Beach Hotel - rates start at $700

Hapuna Beach view from Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel. Entire Hapuna Beach is accessible through Hapuna Beach State Park with lots of parking available.
I don't know about the Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki and the Maui Prince, but I can definitely speak for Hapuna Beach Hotel and Mauna Kea Beach hotel that the rates listed are nearly double the room rates from the past. We reported that the Mauna Kea room rates had skyrocketed after it reopened in December 2008. Anybody would expect that with the economy slowdown and Hawaii Tourism trying to attract visitors to Hawaii, Hapuna Beach Hotel would offer special room rates instead of raising those considerably and then offer 2 rooms for 1. So where is the promised Hawaii vacation deal?

Anybody familiar with Hawaii travel knows that Spring and Summer Hawaii visitors have been the average or even budget traveler. As the middle class is the same affected by the economy slowdown as everybody else, I have my serious doubts that this Hawaii Prince Vacaction promotion will sell additional rooms. And remember before committing to booking your Hawaii hotel, make sure that the quoted rate is really what you have to pay at check-out and no surprise resort fees will be added.

What's your alternative to higher Hawaii hotel room rates and resort fees for a Hawaii vacation deal in April? Best way to go these days are fully equipped Hawaii vacation rentals, homes and condos. Maui condo in Kihei are well-known among Maui visitors for their beach locations top amenities and affordability. Same applies to Kauai condos in Kapaau. We loved our walk to the beach, daily tennis and pool. Most of the Big Island condos are very fancy resort condos on the Kohala Coast, which are renting for the same high room rates as the 4- and 5- star hotel.

However, there are great fully equipped Hawaii vacation rentals and homes available, short 10-min. drives to the white sand beaches of Hapuna Beach and Mauna Kea beach, with affordable low rates for April and May. Kohala Coast home owners are happy to offer you special rates for April and May 2009. You can cook at your own kitchen, have a Maitai on your lanai, enjoy all the goodies of a local farmers market, go online through free Wifi connection, make use of boogie boards and snorkel for free and so much more. Hawaii vacation rental owners share their aloha with you! A hui hou. Pua Hawaii Vacations

Hyundai Nuvis Concept

The Hyundai Nuvis concept (hybrid drivetrain) is destined for the next-generation Sonata...

As a parallel hybrid, the Nuvis can be driven in all-electric mode, gasoline-engine-only mode as well as any combination thereof. Engine management software automatically shuts off the gasoline engine when the Nuvis comes to a stop, improving overall fuel mileage and providing zero emissions, while Hyundai's Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) restarts the engine once pressure is applied to the accelerator pedal.

The Nuvis is notable for two reasons: First, its hybrid drive train will find its way into the next-generation Hyundai Sonata, and second, Hyundai says the concept's styling hints at what the Santa Fe's replacement could look like.

Hyundai's Hybrid Blue Drive architecture combines a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder (known as the Theta II) with a 30- kW electric motor, the last also producing 151 lb.-ft. of torque. The total estimated output of 228 bhp is put to the road via a 6-speed automatic transmission. Hyundai says the Nuvis's lithium polymer batteries, which are stored underneath the trunk floor, are more durable and space efficient than nickel-metal hydride and lithium- ion versions.

Beautiful City of Bath in England, Another Pictures

Bath is a city in the ceremonial county of Somerset in the south west of England. It is situated 97 miles (156 km) west of London and 13 miles (21 km) south-east of Bristol. The population of the city is about 80,000. It was granted city status by Royal Charter by Queen Elizabeth I in 1590,[2] and was made a county borough in 1889 which gave it administrative independence from its county, Somerset. The city became part of Avon when that county was created in 1974. Since 1996, when Avon was abolished, Bath has been the principal centre of the unitary authority of Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES).

The city was founded, among surrounding hills, in the valley of the River Avon around naturally occurring hot springs (the only ones in the United Kingdom, using the common definition of a spring with water above average human body temperature) where the Romans built baths and a temple, giving it the name Aquae Sulis. Edgar was crowned king of England at Bath Abbey in 973. Much later, it became popular as a spa resort during the Georgian era, which led to a major expansion that left a heritage of exemplary Georgian architecture crafted from Bath Stone.

As City of Bath the city became a World Heritage Site in 1987. The city has a variety of theatres, museums, and other cultural and sporting venues, which have helped to make it a major centre for tourism, with over one million staying visitors and 3.8 million day visitors to the city each year. The city has two universities and several schools and colleges. There is a large service sector and growing information and communication technologies and creative industries, providing employment for the population of Bath and the surrounding area.

Salzburg, Enjoy The Beauty Austria

Traces of human settlements have been found in the area, dating to the Neolithic Age. The first settlements at Salzburg were apparently begun by the Celts. Around 15 BC the separate settlements were merged into one city by the Romans. At this time the city was called Juvavum and was awarded the status of a Roman municipium in 45 AD. Juvavum developed into an important town of the Roman province of Noricum. Juvavum declined sharply after the collapse of the Norican frontier, such that by the late 7th century it had become a "near ruin".

The Life of Saint Rupert credits the saint with the city's rebirth. When Theodo of Bavaria asked Rupert to become bishop c. 700, Rupert reconnoitered the river for the site of his basilica. Rupert chose Juvavum, ordained priests, and annexed the manor Piding. Rupert named the city "Salzburg", and then left to evangelize among the pagans.

The name Salzburg literally means "Salt Castle", and derives its name from the barges carrying salt on the Salzach river, which were subject to a toll in the 8th century, as was customary for many communities and cities on European rivers.

The Festung Hohensalzburg, the city's fortress, was built in 1077 and expanded during the following centuries.

Independence from Bavaria was secured in the late 14th century. Salzburg was the seat of the Archbishopric of Salzburg, a prince-bishopric of the Holy Roman Empire. Visit to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salzburg if yours need read full this article.

Beautiful Place in Bannf Canada Pictures

About Banff National Park : The Best Place in Canada

Banff National Park is set in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. It attracts roughly 4 million visitors each year. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site

The largest community within Banff National Park is the Town of Banff. We are a unique destination, and we take pride in accommodating visitors and providing tourism services, without losing the charm of a small mountain community.

The Town of Banff is in the province of Alberta in the southwestern corner of Banff National Park, and west of Calgary.

The townsite is about 90 minutes from Calgary via the Trans Canada Highway, and less than two hours from Calgary International Airport. The Hamlet of Lake Louise is 50 minutes further west, also within Banff National Park.

Because the Town of Banff is less than 4 km square in size and surrounded by mountain parkland and wilderness, the community really does share its space with the wildlife. Some say that a local on their way to work is as likely to see a deer as a neighborhood dog. Elk, sheep and bear sightings are not uncommon near this town filled with trees, parks and trails.

Our town also abounds with opportunities to experience... everything: from the most rugged of outdoor activities to world-class arts and culture displays (see our Activities & Events section to learn more.)

The Town of Banff plays an important and leading role in today's environmentally-concerned society.

Banff is one of only two incorporated municipalities in a Canadian national park. In keeping with this special role, we make great efforts to foster appreciation and respect for nature and mountain culture; and to meet the responsibilities of being a national park community. The Banff National Park Management Plan is a guiding document for the Town of Banff.
