Casey Stoner showed that he deserved to be winners at the Catalunya Grand Prix on Sunday (06/05/2011). Having dominated the three free practice sessions for this weekend and start from the second position, the Repsol Honda rider appeared dominant during the race 25 laps, to the podium and reached number one. This is Stoner's third victory in the 2011 season.
Stoner beat Yamaha duo Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies, who finished in the order of the 2nd and 3rd. Meanwhile, teammate Stoner, Andrea Dovizioso, ending the race to finish in fourth place, followed by Ducati rider, Valentino Rossi, and the holder of the position pemuncak, Marco Simoncelli.
This is of course the painful results for "Super Sic", which is actually very competitive since the free practice and managed to beat Stoner in qualifying yesterday. However, a bad start to make Simoncelli must accept the bitter truth because again failed on the podium for the first time since made his debut in MotoGP last season. As for Spies, the results in Catalunya become healers sense of longing to realize the dream on the podium. Because the dream is finally coming true.
With the fifth series in 2011 MotoGP, the composition in the standings changed little. Lorenzo podium number two fixed leads the standings with a total of 98 points. Furthermore, there is Stoner who is now left behind seven points. Dovizioso managed to climb into third place with a value of 63, shifting his team mate, Dani Pedrosa. Pedrosa missed the race this time because conditions are not good post-operative right collarbone injury after touched by Simoncelli at Le Mans, 15 May.
The road race
When the red light signal starts the race, the duo Yamaha, Lorenzo and Spies, direct thrust to the front. They crucify the holder of the position pemuncak, Simoncelli, who slumped to seventh. Meanwhile, Stoner was able to maintain its position in second. He only lost to Lorenzo, and followed by Spies. Rossi also made a good start because, from the seventh, champ Ducati leapt to fourth position, beating Dovizioso.
However, entering the second lap, Stoner that debuted during the three free practice sessions began to show its dominance. After passing Lorenzo, 2007 world champion is pretty much straight ahead with the difference more than 0.2 seconds. In fourth place, Rossi and Dovi alternately took their positions.
Entering the fourth lap, Dovi has begun to make the distance with Rossi, who is in front Simoncelli, followed by team mate Rossi, Nicky Hayden. At the front, Stoner and Lorenzo consistently away from the pursuit of Spies, who started getting pressure from Dovi.
Stoner, who has recorded two wins during the 2011 season, continued to menggeber bike to the max. On the fifth lap, he again made the record the fastest lap so that its distance with the width becomes increasingly Lorenzo 1.187 seconds. This makes the race started a bit tense initially monotonous and boring because Stoner has no opponent again. Likewise with a comfortable Lorenzo in second.
Competition tight at the back of it happening. Spies, who became leader of the third group and 3.779 seconds off Stoner's left behind, kept posted by Dovi and Rossi. Simoncelli, who did start poorly, slowly, keep away from Hayden to threaten Rossi. On the eighth lap, 1.107 seconds behind Simoncelli of Rossi.
On the ninth lap, Cal Crutchlow maneuver that suggests that strengthening due to rookie MotoGP Yamaha Tech 3 was successfully pass Hayden. British rider passed the 2006 world champion on the track straight, which made him rise to seventh.
Back to the pole position, Stoner was unstoppable again seems to be a champion. Australian rider is now 2.497 seconds ahead when the race 13 laps remaining from a total of 25 laps. Only bad luck could destroy his ambition to embrace the third victory this season, after Qatar and Le Mans.
Lap-13, the rain began to fall, although still in small granules. White flag was flown. Some teams have started preparing for their second motor, to anticipate likely to have to enter the pits. Nevertheless, the rider did not want to speculate, so they do not care about the condition. Only, this situation makes the rider started to be careful.
But overall, the composition on the track racing has not changed. Stoner remains unshakable in the forefront and 2.986 seconds ahead of Lorenzo when the race entered lap 19. Gap between the rider who is behind them is also quite far away. Thus, the distance between Spies, Dovi, Rossi and Simoncelli seemed tenuous. Not presented a tense duel.
Towards the race was over, when the remaining two laps, Dovi again gave threat to Spies. However, the pressure exerted Italian rider to the 2009 Superbike world champion did not last long because he's back behind. Therefore, no change until the fifth series of MotoGP races in 2011 was completed. Stoner became the winner, followed by Lorenzo, Spies, Dovi, Rossi, Simoncelli, Crutchlow, and Hayden.
Furthermore, the rider will prepare them for the sixth series at Silverstone, England, next week. Hopefully, Stoner's teammate, Dani Pedrosa, was able to take part after missing the Catalunya.
